After having it for a week, the jury is still out on this product. You're supposed to be able to go to speedo.com/digital for detailed instructions, but they're not there! Also, turning it on and advancing to other songs is slower than it should be. And you do still have to convert files to mp3 -- it just displays "Unknown Format" otherwise. It's certainly better than the previous aquabeat product I had -- I like the drag and drop function for getting your music onto the player -- but it's not without its issues. I've spent a lot of time in the water these past couple of swims fiddling with this device rather than swimming. That makes me unhappy.

I bought it as a present for my boyfriend. He loved it! The sound is great......even better under water. Easy to clean, lightweight and a enough memory!! It's a great option to improve your swimming!!
Comments about SPEEDO Hyperfluid Mask/Snorkel/Fin Set:
I listen to audiobooks on my Aquabeat (earlier version 1Gb). Usually mysteries. Keeps me going back to the pool to hear what happens next and get a workout at the same time.
Comments about SPEEDO Hyperfluid Mask/Snorkel/Fin Set:
I have drown 3 previous music players in sweat while running on hot humid days, but this thing is made to be in the water and works great. I've had my first generation unit since 2007 and love it. My only complaint is that the battery charge doesn't last long enough to get through the whole 1 gig worth of music. Later units may have better power usage.
Comments about SPEEDO Hyperfluid Mask/Snorkel/Fin Set:
Just got my aquabeats 2 today. Easy to connect, charged fast. Easy to convert my itunes music to mp3 and load onto the beats. Super light weight. I love that they clip behind my head onto my goggles. I plan to also use these when I run, clipping it onto my visor and also onto my helmet when I bike. I know that the biggest complaint has been the headphones. The over-the-ear piece doesn't fit really well for me. BUT common sense told me to just take the over-the-ear piece off, put on the largest inner ear canal ear bud and stick them right in. I get a great seal. I haven't swam much with them yet. But will give a full report on how they work after a couple weeks. Right now, I love them!
Comments about SPEEDO Hyperfluid Mask/Snorkel/Fin Set:
I generally swim/run underwater for a minimun one hour warmup and then depending on how my body feels, go forward in 15 minute increments for the next one hour and 15 minutes. The first hour goes very fast, but I felt the second phase boring, thus not productive, and was searching for something that I could fall back on. I found the Aquabeat on the internet and was sold. Now I can listen to Miles Davis or the "Phantom" or anything out of my library of great jazz and classical. To be honest, I was just about to send it back because I spend at least 2 hours in the water on a session and the MP3 kept showing that it was down to its last power BAR after 2 sessions. I kept recharging and was frustrated that it dissipated so quickly. Yesterday, I left it on to see how long it would take for the last bar to disappear. It lasted for hours through the whole evening. Speedo, you had best let your clients know that quirk. I would have sent it back this day.
Comments about SPEEDO Hyperfluid Mask/Snorkel/Fin Set:
It's perfect for otherwise monotonous laps. Easy to charge; easy to upload music; easy to attach, clean, transport. Only prob: hard to change settings, read the info (small window).
Comments about SPEEDO Hyperfluid Mask/Snorkel/Fin Set:
I charged the device, transfered my music to it, and it would not turn on. Plus the ear bubs did not fit right so even if the device did work I would not have been able to wear it in the water.
Comments about SPEEDO Hyperfluid Mask/Snorkel/Fin Set:
I bought my Aquabeat two months ago but I lost it at the beach, even it mentionned that it floats in water for quick and easy recovery. It drowned and I couldn't find it again. Now I have to buy another one and try to use it in swimming pools only.
Comments about SPEEDO Hyperfluid Mask/Snorkel/Fin Set:
I swim 7 days a week for 45 minutes to an hour. I do this in response to medical issues. Honestly, it bored me to tears. I got my Aquabeat two months ago. All my initial issues where with the earbuds. I couldn't keep the earplugs in until I accidentally knocked the loops that go over the ears off. Since then, they stay in without adjustment for my entire swim. I don't do powerful turnovers or hard kickoffs so I can't comment on that. I do swim fairly fast even with poor form. I find that the music and audiobooks really help the time pass. I most enthusiastically give this product 5 stars.
Comments about SPEEDO Hyperfluid Mask/Snorkel/Fin Set:
I don't believe it's durable, 2 broke within days. 3rd one, I'm more successful so far. Used it nearly every day this summer 2012. The earbuds are annoying. Clogs my ears, tried the 2 different sizes. And the music goes in and out lots of times and I'm not talking about the radio, that's another issue, that is quite staticky. The dowloaded music was easy, sound is good. I think it's the earbuds, the music sound is not always the same level. Also, I didn't hear from anybody that says this "aquabeat" lasts more than a year, and I think that's optomistic. I have fuss around with the earbuds alot during swim. All in all the Aquabeat is a great idea, helps me a lot to stay swimming which I find boring without the music. It needs some improvement in durability and the earbuds. I'm glad I have it, enjoying it mostly, though. I will rated a 3 just bec of earbuds needs improvement and I feel the "aquabeat" needs to be a little more sturdy for longevity.
Comments about SPEEDO Hyperfluid Mask/Snorkel/Fin Set:
I love it! Have had it for about a month. Use it every day while swimming and in the steam room. Much better sound than orher waterproof MP3. Lots of features, such as playlists and stopwatch. I highly recommend.
Comments about SPEEDO Hyperfluid Mask/Snorkel/Fin Set:
Use the product to swim. Its my second unit. The 2.0 was a definite improvement. However, until SPEEDO (the online site) actually backs the product up for 1 year (not 90 days) it won't be a great product. The 2 units I purchased lasted 3 and 9 months respectively. It makes swimming so enjoyable, BUT IF YOU GET 6 MONTHS OUT OF THE UNIT BEFORE IT BREAKS YOUR LUCKY!
Comments about SPEEDO Hyperfluid Mask/Snorkel/Fin Set:
Granted Im new to a mp3 player. but not a total newbee. I needed more that a half page of instructions. There is no place to call for help that I could find. I,m wating for a neighborhood 15 year old to show me how to work it
Comments about SPEEDO Hyperfluid Mask/Snorkel/Fin Set:
Tried to use it to listen to recorded books converted to mp3. Difficult to get tracks to play in a specific order. Takes two special utilities to rename tracks and edit mp3 tags. Figured all that out.
Finally sent it back after the player shut off twice due to a low battery even though it had been charged for at least few hours both times.
Comments about SPEEDO Hyperfluid Mask/Snorkel/Fin Set:
I am a lap swimmer but counting my laps until I hit a mile gets B-O-R-I-N-G... So I grabbed one of these beauties so I can listen to music...I matched the speed of my freestyle strokes to the beats of music and went to town. FYI...Lady Gaga is pretty dead on for stroke speed. Who knew...
Comments about SPEEDO Hyperfluid Mask/Snorkel/Fin Set:
Works terrific when it works. I am on my second one already in six months. The first one just stopped. The radio doesn't work when I am swimming, I guess the radio waves don't go under water. The part about water getting in the ear was easy to fix. Just empty the ear and blow into the headphone and it works again. I also have a swimp3. It works on the outside of the ear on the bones. That part is great, but the swimp3 has lots of trouble with the player itself. Won't play some files that are mp3s.
The display on the aqua beat sure helps out to know what is going on.
The cord of the headphones is a couple of inches too short from ear around to the other ear.
Comments about SPEEDO Hyperfluid Mask/Snorkel/Fin Set:
Very hard to load songs. The manual was not written by a native speaker of English. One earphone cut out when in water. Would play on to three songs then freeze.
Comments about SPEEDO Hyperfluid Mask/Snorkel/Fin Set:
I use my SwimMP3 player in the pool and it works great. I wear a swim cap just to make sure the ear pieces stay in place. The laps just fly by because I am listening to the music I love.
Comments about SPEEDO Hyperfluid Mask/Snorkel/Fin Set:
I have the older version, have had it for a couple years. I swim 4-5 nights a week and can't go without my Aquabeat! I simply sync the songs on my PC with the Aquabeat. My headphones just went out last week so that is a very long time for them to last. Only con is that i can't hear people when the music is on, like if they ask to share a lane they think i'm ignoring them LOL. When people notice what it is they often respond with excitement about getting one for themself!
Comments about SPEEDO Hyperfluid Mask/Snorkel/Fin Set:
I swim laps 3-4 times a week and actually have the older version but it is so functional and durable, not to mention enjoyable. Battery life is about 15-20 hours. It is easy to use itunes with, just converting to mp3 on the drop down menu on each song. I would imagine this new one is even better than mine! Love it!
Comments about SPEEDO Hyperfluid Mask/Snorkel/Fin Set:
I selected this player because the product description says it is iTunes compatible. When I loaded my songs, I got the message 'unknown format.' I was very disappointed & returned it immediately. So is this thing supposed to support M4A or not?
Comments about SPEEDO Hyperfluid Mask/Snorkel/Fin Set:
This is the second aquabeat I have had. The old one still works but wanted to try the new one. I had a very hard time figuring it out and the manual is not available online as stated. After a few hours I got it set up and I love it. Couldn't swim without my Aquabeat. Sounds good too. Makes swimming fun instead of boring. I recommend it in spite of the difficulty figuring it out.
Comments about SPEEDO Hyperfluid Mask/Snorkel/Fin Set:
Very easy to get up-and-running! Plug it in, open iTunes and drag your favorite workout songs into the "Speedo" folder. Once they copy over, then you're done! Took me a bit longer to get into the water, getting situated with cap, goggles, and headphones... but well worth it. Swimming with music is amazing! I now swim almost twice as long and far, when I used to stop at 25 minutes out of boredom and tiredness. It's great to see the songs on the LED screen, which is a big upgrade from the last version of the Aquabeat.
Merchant response: The Aquabeat 2.0 supports (AAC=M4A=MP4) itune file format. However, the speed(bps) have to be less than 256kbps and the unit will then recognize the track name (you can change the AAC file to be 128kbps/160kbs /192kbps).
